6 Pancras Square, London

THE BUILDING
The 11 storey building includes two large roof terraces and 31,500 sqm of themselves to meet the highest sustainability targets.
THE REQUIREMENT
A BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating was required. The architect paid particular attention to glare and solar gain reduction in order to meet the BREEAM criteria. They recognised the importance of maintaining a view to the outside from all elevations to improve staff health and well-being.

THE SOLUTION
The use of window blinds for glare control contributes one credit under BREEAM 2008 in the Health & Wellbeing category. A thermal modelling study proved that Verosol’s high performance 205 SilverScreen metallised screen this fabric with 4% openness returned the optimum shading coefficient. Use of this fabric contributed an extra BREEAM credit related to thermal comfort in the Health & Wellbeing category.
