City BBVA, Madrid
The City BBVA is a complex of seven buildings that houses the new headquarters of the Spanish bank Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria. The main building known as La Vela rises in the centre of the complex and is 93 metres and 19 floors high. It is located in the Las Tablas neighbourhood of Madrid.
THE BUILDING
BBVA’s new headquarters is located in Madrid. The slim tower, shaped as a ship sail marks BBVA in the Madrid skyline. The tower offers a great workspace, with views across the city and to the mountains. Around this plaza trees have been planted in order to create a natural atmosphere.
THE REQUIREMENT
The full height glazing in the design provides good daylight conditions in the offices in order to minimise artificial lighting. Daylight control requires a solar shading solution that is able to minimise cooling requirements but still allows room for natural daylight and view-through.

THE SOLUTION
The architect choose 802 SilverScreen Enviro because of sustainability of the product. The indoor solar shading screen is characterised by excellent lower cooling demands and natural view-through, harmonising with the outside sunlight circumstances thus minimising artificial lighting.
